The Ripples Competency Analysis Tool (R-CAT) is built upon the following model. Usually, instruments are only based upon self-reportage. This often undermines the credibility of the test as several errors (eg. Social Desirability Error) creep in. 360 degree tools often contrast self-reportage with social-reportage but these are often done in the context of specific work goals. R-CAT hopes to arrive at a more holistic level of self awareness by including self-perception, social expectations and past evidence into its framework. The self-awareness arrived at as a result of this is more holistic and creates the chance for an epiphany which could lead to change in behaviour.
